Built The Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center, by renovating the 12,753-square-foot building, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, while preserving features like the original crown moldings and sky-blue coffered ceilings, the 12-foot-tall Palladian windows and the original ticket booth. Reduced original debt service by over $1 million.
The new location, at 1 Main Street, has increased walk-in traffic for the Chamber of Commerce and allows the town to have a staffed information center where visitors can get literature and ask questions.
Under the Republican Administration we renovated the Firehouse, purchased 2 new trucks, paid cash, no debt.
The original Acton Public Library located on Old Boston Post Road in Old Saybrook contained 7,000 square feet and was desperately in need of additional space. In 1999, construction began on a 14,000 square foot addition which was completed in 2002.
Old Saybrook‘s Main Street School was built in 1936. In 1999, voters approved a referendum to convert it to serve as the new town hall. Converted Town Hall, refinanced to save over $150,000 interest costs.
